Southampton fail with fresh Hooper bid
Southampton Football Club have failed with a second bid for Gary Hooper.
Nigel Adkins signed the striker during his time in charge of Scunthorpe United, and the player’s form for the Irons earned him a £2million transfer to Celtic in the summer of 2010.
The 23-year-old has been superb for the Scottish side, and now at the Saints, Adkins would love to be reunited with the player at St Mary’s.
The Championship leaders have already failed with a bid for Hooper earlier this month, and Bhoys manager Neil Lennon has revealed a second offer has also been rejected.
"Southampton's valuation of the player and our valuation are some way off each other," he told the Daily Record. "If they come back in they'll get the same answer. He's not for sale."
