Swansea City Football Club are set to enter the race for Adrian Mariappa.
Newcastle United have already failed with one bid for the 25-year-old defender, thought to have been in the region of £2million, but are expected to return with an improved offer.
However, Alan Pardew could now face competition for the player from Premier League rivals Swansea, with the Daily Mail claiming Brendan Rodgers is also keen.
Watford are in no rush to sell Mariappa, though, and are believed to be holding out for a fee of £4million for a player who has developed through their youth ranks.
