Ryan Giggs believes Paul Scholes was wrong to call time on his Manchester United career.

The former England international announced at the end of last season he was hanging his boots up, but he made a sensational return to the playing field last month.

Scholes has been in impressive form since making his u-turn, and Giggs feels his fellow veteran, who at 37 is one year his junior, made a mistake in calling it a day in the first place.

“I thought he'd retired too early - a lot of people did," he told Inside United. "Scholesy probably thought he'd made up his mind and when you've done that, you can't really change it.

"But he was still the best in training with the reserves, so he obviously felt he could still do it. Nobody was going to disagree with that and it was a massive boost when we found out he was coming back.”
