Erik Pieters remains a target for Newcastle United Football Club.

When the Magpies lost Jose Enrique to Liverpool last summer, Alan Pardew made the Holland international his top target as a new left fullback.

However, the Premier League side were unable to persuade PSV Eindhoven to sell, and a metatarsal injury made the player out of bounds during the January window.

Latest reports, though, claim Pieters is still wanted by United, who are prepared to pay as much as £5million to take the 23-year-old when the market reopens.
