Yakubu claims he rejected interest from Queens Park Rangers Football Club in January.
Speaking before he helped Blackburn Rovers secure a crucial 3-2 win over Rangers on Saturday afternoon, the Nigerian claimed he was on Mark Hughes’ winter shopping list.
“I decided not to go,” the 29-year-old told the Lancashire Telegraph. “I said I don’t want to go, I want to stay here. I chose to be here. I don’t want to move any more. I am happy here so I didn’t go.”
Rovers will be hugely pleased that Yakubu didn’t push for a transfer during the window, as he is sure to play a crucial role in their bid to escape relegation from the Premier League.
