Marek Hamsik is being lined up by Arsenal Football Club.

Arsene Wenger knows he needs to add to his current options in the summer, as the Gunners look certain for a seventh successive season without silverware.

The Emirates Stadium boss has failed to adequately replace his midfield pair of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, despite the summer additions of Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun.

Reports in Italy claim Wenger could launch a bid for Slovakian international playmaker Hamsik, 24, who is under contract at Napoli until 2015 and rated at around £25million.

The owner of the Italian club, Aurelio de Laurentiis, said in The Mirror: “If somebody wants to make an offer, we are here to listen. You never close the door to anyone.”
