Mark Hughes wants Adrian Mariappa at Queens Park Rangers Football Club.

The 25-year-old is regarded as one of the best defenders in England outside of the Premier League, and was a major target for Newcastle United in January.

However, Alan Pardew failed to persuade Watford to sell a player who progressed through the ranks at Vicarage Road, despite making two firm bids.

It is now believed that Hughes has made Mariappa a target for his QPR back four, and will table a bid if Premier League football is still on the Loftus Road menu next season.
