Barcelona could be priced out of making a bid for Gareth Bale in the summer.

The Wales international is fast earning a reputation as one of the best talents in Europe, and the Spanish giants are thought to be interested in signing the 22-year-old.

However, Tottenham Hotspur rate Bale in the region of £40million, and Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists such a price is beyond the Camp Nou club.

"We will not enter the madness market because it is impossible for Barcelona to pay (£33million-42million) for any player,” he said. "This is a decision of the club.”
