Manchester United Football Club have been watching Axel Witsel.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to add to his midfield options when the window reopens, and The Express claim he has been keeping tabs on the Belgian international.

The Reds boss has been a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old, currently of Benfica, who helped knock United out the UEFA Champions League.

Witsel is under contract at the Portuguese club until the summer of 2016, but Ferguson would look to lure him to Old Trafford in a £15million deal.
