Adam Johnson has shrugged off speculation linking him with Sunderland.

The England international has struggled to nail down a regular start in the Manchester City side, due to the abundance of talent available to Roberto Mancini.

Johnson has been heavily linked with a move to his hometown club in the summer, but he insists he takes all speculation with a pinch of salt.

“I don't take any notice of speculation, because that's all it is,” he told the Mirror. “Naturally my mates are always texting me about this club and that club coming in for me.

“But I'm happy here and until someone tells me otherwise that isn't going to change. I have lived with speculation since I was 16 so it's nothing new to me."
