Manchester United Football Club are lining up a bid for Leighton Baines.

With Patrice Evra approaching his 31st birthday, Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to find more competition for the France international in the summer.

Baines is regarded by some as the best left fullback in the Premier League, and is a serious contender for a starting role for England ahead of Chelsea’s Ashley Cole.

And according to The Mirror, Ferguson hopes to lure the 27-year-old to Old Trafford for what would surely be a bargain price at just £5million.
