Alberto Aquilani could be heading back to Liverpool Football Club next season.
The Italian international joined the Reds in a £20million deal during the summer of 2009, but he had a torrid debut season due to injury and loss of form.
Aquilani is currently back in his homeland with Milan, and he has made 22 appearances as the Rossoneri look to beat off competition from Juventus to retain their Serie A title.
The 27-year-old would love to make the move to the San Siro permanent, but unless he triggers an automatic right-to-buy option by playing 25 games, he could return to Anfield.
"I don't know if Milan want to buy him. We must still wait,” agent Franco Zavaglia told gazzettagiallorossa.it. “He is only three games short of the automatic right to buy."
