Manchester United are plotting a £15million bid for Jordi Alba.

Sir Alex Ferguson has made the signing of a new left-back one of his priorities this summer, as he seeks more competition for French ace Patrice Evra.

Alba is widely regarded as one of the best fullbacks in Spanish football, and he has been tipped to leave current club Valencia when the window reopens.

Barcelona may be favourites to sign the 23-year-old, but according to Goal.com, United will seek to beat them to his signature by offering £15million.
