Gerard Pique is reportedly Manchester United Football Club’s number one target.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bolster his squad when the window reopens, and a new commanding centre-half is believed to be amongst his targets.

According to the Star, the Reds boss could even make a move for former Old Trafford youngster Pique, who left United for hometown club Barcelona in 2008.

The 25-year-old has since become one of the best defenders in Europe, but despite this, reports in Spain suggest he could face an uncertain future at the Camp Nou.

Ferguson would love to take Pique back to Manchester and offer him the first team place he couldn’t command earlier, and could bid £25million for his signature.
