Manchester United are set to make a move for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

The 22-year-old is just ninety minutes away from leading Montpellier to the Ligue 1 title, with a point at relegated Auxerre on Sunday all that is required.

Arsene Wenger has been heavily linked with the defender for much of the campaign, as he looks to bolster his Arsenal back four following another frustrating season.

However, the Gunners boss could face stiff competition from Sir Alex Ferguson, who is also thought to be a fan of the £7million-rated Yanga-Mbiwa.

The player will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer, and both clubs will hope to tie up a deal before he gets chance to impress for France at Euro 2012.
