Big Sam fulfils Hammers brief
09:30 AM 20 May, 2012
Sam Allardyce has guided West Ham United back into the Premier League.

The former Bolton Wanderers boss was appointed as the Hammers manager last summer, after Avram Grant had failed to keep them in the Premier League.

Allardyce was briefed with the job of restoring United’s top-flight status, and he achieved this by leading his side to a playoff final win over Blackpool on Saturday.

"It's everything to me because I've been in the Premier League for 10 years or so and I wanted to come and experience a successful season,” he told Sky Sports.

"It was very difficult at the start to turn the club around with the relegation problem that we've had, but we've turned it around we came good right at the very end.

"Obviously we're delighted how much it means to everybody at West Ham United Football Club. We've got what we wanted. We're going up."
