Atletico Madrid are keen to lure Luis Suarez to the Spanish capital.

The Uruguayan international has been a controversial figure in England since his arrival at Liverpool in January 2011, and he has long been linked with a summer exit.

Suarez continues to insist that he wants to remain on Merseyside, although last week he did confess that he would also like to pit his wits in Spain’s La Liga.

“I hope to play in Spain in the future, because along with England and Italy, it is the best in the world,” said the forward. “Any player would dream of playing there.”

Reports suggest Atletico are interested in recruiting the 25-year-old, who coach Diego Simeone feels would be the perfect foil for 36-goal Radamel Falcao.
