Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to wrap up a deal for Jan Vertonghen.

The Belgian international has long been linked with a move to England, with Arsenal and Newcastle United long-term admirers in his talents.

However, it looks like Spurs could be about to pip their Premier League rivals for the defender, after chairman Daniel Levy flew to Amsterdam to seal a deal.

Vertonghen will soon be in the final 12 months of his contract at Dutch giants Ajax, who are thought to be demanding a £10million fee to release the 25-year-old.
