Burnley Football Club are said to be leading the chase for James Meredith.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at York City, helping the Minstermen climb from the Blue Square Premier back to the Football League.
And it now appears as though Meredith will bypass League Two altogether next season, and will instead make the leap to the Championship where a number of clubs are keen.
It is believed Eddie Howe’s Burnley are leading the chase for the defender, and the Clarets boss is expected to make his move when the player’s contract expires this summer.
