Lambert pushes for Aston Villa job
11:00 PM 31 May, 2012
Paul Lambert is eager to become the next manager of Aston Villa Football Club.

The Midlands club are looking for a new boss after sacking Alex McLeish at the end of a season which saw them narrowly escape relegation from the Premier League.

Having missed out on Molde’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and possibly Roberto Martinez of Wigan Athletic, they have now turned their attention to Lambert.

The Scot has led Norwich City from League One to the top-flight with successive promotions, and last season the Canaries finished nine points ahead of Villa.

Lambert has submitted his resignation to the Carrow Road board, and whilst this has been rejected, he is now firm favourite to succeed McLeish ahead of next term.
