Mats Hummels is no longer an option for Manchester United Football Club.

The German international is one of a handful of Borussia Dortmund stars who have been linked with the Reds, along with the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Robert Lewandowski.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson now has little chance of landing Hummels anytime soon, after the 23-year-old defender penned a new contract which will run until 2017.

"As soon as the club asked if I would like to extend, I knew immediately that I want to continue being part of this team, which is so successful and is so much fun to be in," he said.
