Despite a fourth place finish last season, UEFA Champions League football has been denied Spurs due to sixth-placed Chelsea winning the competition last month.

This has sparked speculation that van der Vaart could seek a move this summer, with Schalke interested, but the 29-year-old expects to stay at White Hart Lane.

“There's always interest. But I'm happy in England and I want to stay,” said the Holland star. "In football, you never know, and that's what I wanted to say and nothing more."
