Chris Beardsley has decided to call time on his Stevenage career.

The 28-year-old has spent the past three years at the League One club, but with his contract up this summer, he has decided the time is right for a fresh challenge.

"Chris told us last week that it was time to be going elsewhere," chairman Phil Wallace told the Comet. "He's been a great servant to the club and we wish him well for the future.

"All of the out of contract players that we thought would go have now gone. We factored that in some months ago and spent that time lining up new lads.”
