David Artell has denied holding talks with Northampton Town Football Club.

The 31-year-old is available on a free transfer having left Crewe Alexandra at the end of his contract, and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Cobblers.

However, Artell has denied reports he has already held talks with the League Two club, and claims he doesn’t even know if Aidy Boothroyd wants a new defender.

"I haven't spoken to anyone from Northampton Town," he told the Chronicle & Echo. "Nobody has contacted me and I wasn't even aware Northampton were in the market for a centre-back.”
