Newcastle United Football Club have entered the race for Salomon Kalou.

Despite helping Chelsea to UEFA Champions League and FA Cup success last season, the Ivory Coast international was not offered a new contract by the Blues.

Kalou is now available on a free transfer this summer, and he has already been linked with moves to Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle are also interested in the 26-year-old forward, and Alan Pardew is hoping to lure him to St James Park as he looks to continue the Magpies’ recent fine progress.
