Sunderland hope to pip Reds for Diame
09:00 AM 13 June, 2012
Sunderland Football Club hope to secure the signature of Mohamed Diame.

The Senegal international midfield player is a free agent this summer, having decided to leave Wigan Athletic at the end of his contract.

Diame was lined up for a move to Liverpool whilst Kenny Dalglish was in charge, and the Scot’s successor, Brendan Rodgers, is also said to be an admirer.

However, it is uncertain if the new Reds boss will make a move for the 24-year-old, which could allow Martin O’Neill to nip in and lure him to the Stadium of Light.
