Martin Ling insists Torquay United are no closer to landing Billy Bodin.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a five-month loan spell at the League Two club last season, and they would now love to take him back on a permanent basis.
Bodin is likely to see his chances at promoted Swindon Town hard to come by next term, but this doesn’t mean the Gulls will have an easy time luring him back to Plainmoor.
"I like him as a player and would like to put him into my unit if possible, but we're not close to where we want to be,” manager Ling told the official club website.
"Swindon have just brought in three forwards and if people move in at the top, some drop out of the bottom, which could be Billy, although they still like him as a player."
