Liverpool have turned their attentions to Luuk de Jong.

Brendan Rodgers had hoped for a reunion with his former Swansea City loanee Fabio Borini, but the Italian international has declared his commitment to Roma.

The Reds boss, eager to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season, will now turn his attention to de Jong, who enjoyed a prolific time for Twente last term.

The Holland international, 21, is under contract at the Dutch club until 2014, but Rodgers will look to lure him to Anfield in a £12million transfer.
