Roberto Di Matteo is set to move for Manchester City’s Micah Richards.
The 24-year-old has spent his entire career at the Etihad Stadium club, helping them to the FA Cup and Premier League during the past two years.
Richards, though, lost his place in Roberto Mancini’s starting eleven last season, and was not considered by Roy Hodgson for England’s Euro 2012 squad.
This has sparked speculation that the defender could be keen on a fresh challenge, and Di Matteo is prepared to offer him just that at Chelsea.
The European champions are in desperate need of a new right fullback, and they would be willing to pay up to £20million to entice Richards to the capital.
