Liverpool face defeat in their bid to land Gaston Ramirez.

The Reds have been linked with the Uruguayan forward for some time, and hoped to team him up with compatriots Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates.

It looks inevitable that Ramirez will leave Bologna before the start of next season, and the Reds were prepared to pay as much as £15million for his signature.

However, reports in Italy claim the 21-year-old is now almost certain to remain in Serie A, with champions Juventus leading the chase to snap him up.
