Steve McClaren wants to keep Luuk de Jong at FC Twente.

The 21-year-old striker is one of the hottest properties in world football, having scored 39 goals in 79 games for his current Dutch employers.

Newcastle are prepared to pay £8million to sign de Jong, but Twente boss McClaren has indicated that he wants to keep the player unless a stupid offer is made.

"Luuk de Jong would stay if it were up to me - unless stupid money is offered,” said the former England coach. "The club know what I think about it."
