Sheffield Wednesday are willing to take a chance on Joey Barton.

The 29-year-old is banned for the first 12 games of the new season, following the scenes after his dismissal at Manchester City on the final game of last term.

Queens Park Rangers are looking to loan him to a Championship side, where the greater number of matches would see him run down his suspension quicker.

Wednesday are interested in taking a chance on Barton, but would only do so if they could keep the midfielder for the first six months of the campaign.
