Manchester City are set to increase their bid for Daniel Agger.

Roberto Mancini is keen to add more defensive quality to his back four options ahead of the new season, as he sets his sights on the UEFA Champions League.

Agger still has two years left on his contract at Liverpool, but this hasn’t stopped the Blues coach slapping in a £13million bid for the 27-year-old this week.

And whilst this was rejected by the Reds, it is believed City are now lining up an improved offer of £17million for the Denmark international.
