Diego Godin is back on Chelsea’s radar.
The Uruguayan international was first linked with the Stamford Bridge club when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge, as he looked to bolster his back four.
Having been unable to prise him from Atletico Madrid the Italian coach turned to David Luiz, who he signed from Benfica for a fee of £25million.
However, the Brazilian, whilst showing glimpses of brilliance at times, is hardly the most reliable of defenders, and Roberto Di Matteo is looking at other options.
The Blues boss wants more competition for his centre-half berths, and it is believed he is set to ask Atletico for the services of the £12million-rated Godin, 26.
