Boothroyd & Poyet the early Leeds front-runners
10:15 PM 22 December, 2008
The boomakers have formed a fairly open market on who will succeed Gary McAllister at Elland Road.

Saturday's defeat at MK Dons ended the McAllister reign and the Whites will want a quick appointment to revive their flagging promotion charge.

Ex-Leeds coach Aidy Boothroyd is the favourite at a general price of 3/1 while former Elland Road number two Gus Poyet is next in the betting.

Leeds legend Norman Hunter said: "I'm sure there will be plenty of good candidates out there who fancy taking Leeds United at this moment.

"The club is well set up and I think it is an excellent job for an experienced guy who wants to step back into the game.

"I don't think it is a hard job. I think it is one of the best jobs in the country."
