Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Raul Meireles.

The Londoners will lose Luka Modric to Real Madrid this summer, with the Croatian international already having undergone a medical with the Spaniards.

Andre Villa-Boas has lined up Portuguese compatriot Meireles as a replacement, having signed him last season whilst in charge of Chelsea.

The Blues are prepared to let the 29-year-old midfielder leave ahead of the 31 August deadline, and Spurs would look to take him for around £7million.
