West Ham United will make a move for Clint Dempsey this week.

The US international is in the final 12 months of his contract at Fulham, and has told Martin Jol he no longer wants to play for the Craven Cottage outfit.

Dempsey was therefore not involved as the Cottagers got their campaign off with a 5-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday, and he is expected to leave in the coming days.

Liverpool are thought to have cooled their interest in the 29-year-old of late, but latest reports suggest the Hammers are prepared to offer £5million for the midfielder.
