Aston Villa are set to step up their interest in Andy Carroll.
It seems obvious that the England international has little future at Liverpool, following the appointment of Brendan Rodgers earlier this summer.
The new Reds boss is prepared to let the 23-year-old leave for around £17million, and he has already taken calls from Newcastle United and West Ham United.
Carroll, who cost £35million in January 2011, would welcome a return to St James Park, but is thought to have ruled out a move to Upton Park.
One other option has emerged in the shape of Villa, though, who want to take him on loan for the season followed by a permanent move next year.
