Aston Villa are lining up an offer for Siem de Jong.

Paul Lambert is in the midst of a huge rebuilding job at Villa Park, after Alex McLeish almost took the club down into the Championship last season.

The new Villa boss has been given cash to spend during the summer, and he also hopes to have a kitty available for him when the window reopens.

It is believed Lambert has set his sights on a deal for Ajax captain de Jong, 23, although it would likely cost £10million to persuade the Dutch club to sell.
