Emanuel Pogatetz hopes to extend his stay at Middlesbrough Football Club.

The Austrian international is a key member of Gareth Southgate’s side, and with just eighteen months remaining on his deal, he hopes to pen fresh terms in the near future.

“The most important thing is we keep our star players," said Pogatetz in the Daily Star Sunday. "Secondly, we have to see if we have the funds to bring players in.

"We are very young and maybe lack a bit of experience, but I think, in the future, we will have a very good team. I have 18 months left on my contract and I'm in talks with the club.

“Hopefully, we will reach agreement and I'm very confident we will do so."
