Reports in Spain are linking Javier Saviola with Wigan Athletic Football Club.

Real Madrid are desperate to land Luis Antonio Valencia from the Premier League club, but they are unwilling to meet the asking price which is close to £18million.

Reports in Spain now suggest the Bernabeu giants will take a different approach, namely offering Argentine international Saviola plus cash for the Ecuador international.

The 27-year-old striker has struggled to make an impact in Madrid since his move from Barcelona, but it remains to be seen if he would be interested in a move to Lancashire.
