Harry hails Tottenham battlers
12:41 PM 12 January, 2009
Harry Redknapp paid tribute to his scrappers after the Wigan defeat: "You'd put your life on Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson, Didier Zokora, Jamie O'Hara."

Whatever does he think of the rest of the team?

Spurs fans seem sick to death of David Bentley, already, some suggesting he pays more attention to his hairstyle than he does his tracking back.

We can blame the players because alot of games have gone by this season and there still seems like there is no improvement! But every time we play well and get a result the manager changes the team around and formation so how the hell are we going to be consistant! We had no wingers against wigan so no balls in to the box = no chance for pav or defoe. No chance in getting a goal.Terrible. Second half against Burnley we turned it on so why did we not start against wigan with the same team. The starting line up said it all " we are after a 0 - 0 " So we can blame the players but they did not pick the team or formation. Maybe Harry wants to be like Ramos! So Harry 442 and keep the same team that gets you a result!

I Agree Nick, I think all the talk of bentley is a bit silly to as he is being played on the left all the time! And talk about Jenas today in the media what a load of rubbish! COYS

what is really scary is the number of players who seem to get worse and go backwards after being at the club a while. Bale looked a real find when he arrived now he looks just awful. Lennon has never fulfilled his potential and the same can be said for Huddlestone. There is something fundamentally wrong at this club lets hope that we survive this season because sorting this out from the Championship will be tragic. COYS

THE LACK OF CREATIVITY WAS SHOCKING YESTERDAY. MODRIC WAS THE ONLY MIDLFIELD STARTER WITH REAL IMAGINATION. WE WENT TO WIGAN FOR A POINT. HARRY KNOWS HE IS IN A SCRAP NOW. WE NEED TO WIN OUR HOME GAMES TO STAY UP.COME ON YOU SPURS.

spurs need to completley wake up and begin to fight for the clubs survial. Yesturdays game was diabolical by all means of the word. Although i do not think that zokora is good enough to win his place in the starting line-up but i do think that he has the heart of a lion and doesnt give up. We are in desperate need of a midfielder with a bit of bootle who will command the midfield area as spurs are lacking some serious bite within this area. I also belive that woodgate should be permanent captin as ledders jus cant stay fit. With all due respect when he leads the team they are completley different and is an inspirational captin. Come on you spurs pull us out of this mess!!

Harry,we don't just need battlers but effective play as well.Though Zokora runs around he is ineffective in games.Football is about offensive play and if you have a player who does't pose any goal threat even from midfield, the team do not create chances.Tottenham plays too deep, most of their players hides at the back leaving forwards totally isolated.Zokora should be drop and replace by JJ and HUDD.When Harry came and was not playing him the team was far offensive creating chances and scoring goals,as soon as he was introduced back into the midfield area we struggle to create chances.Zokora is more of a defender at best.

YES, THIS SPURS TEAM DOESN'T HAVE THE "BALLS". NOBODY WANTS TO WIN THE BALL IN THE CENTRE NOR WANTS TO TACKLE TO AT LEAST DETER THE ATTACKERS. INSTEAD OF JUST KICKING THE BALL FROM THE BACK AIMLESSLY (YESTERDAY POOR GOMES HAD TO THROW TOWARDS SOMEONE IN AN ATTACKING POSITION) WHY NOT START A MOVE FROM THE BACK BUT WE NEED GOOD AND STRONG CARRIERS (ESSIEN TYPE). APPIAH,HUNT AND SHOREY SHOULD BE SIGNED IMMEDIATELY. FURTHERMORE BALE IS JUST USELESS AS A DEFENDER. HE JUST ADDS ON THE PRESSURE FOR THE CENTREBACKS. I COULD GO ON AND ON COMMENTING ON BENTLEY, BENT, JENAS AND AT TIMES ON LENNON. THE BOTTOMLINE-IF WE DON'T BUCKLE UP, WE MIGHT BE A CARLING CUPWINNER PLAYING IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT SEASON.

We need new left back because Bale is not good enough!!! O'hara play good because he has to fight for his place. Harry need bit more time to work with them, i think we will be ok in next game at home

I agree with Harry in what he says about the players , it seems that the players that are putting in 100% week in week out are the less glamorous players such as Zokora and Ohara , the fancy dans like Bentley are a complete waste of space , Modric looks lost at times , Pavy blows hot and cold and Gareth Bale looks totally shot of all confidence. But i believe the most important factor in our season is getting Ledley King as fit as possible and playing as regular as possible , he is a vital cog in the Spurs wheel and we need him every game if possible. The basic ingredients are there but if the players arent prepeared to put in the effort then come May we could be in 3 Cup finals and starring relegation in the face. Id like to see a left winger brought in , not Downing though , possibly Capel or the like and please Harry you did a great thing bringing JD back to the Lane now the next step is to offload the wasters , I.E David `does my bum look big in this` Bentley and im afraid Darren Bent just insnt a Spurs player. FOREVER COYS

Long before he even joined Spurs I thought Bentley was a glory hunter, someone who likes to shine individually and for whom the team comes second. This hasn't changed at Spurs. But he scored THAT goal against Arsenal, and it should count for something!
