Brighton have signed midfielder Chris Birchall until the end of the season.

24-year Trinidad & Tobago international Birchall moves from Coventry City. He has spent the past two weeks in training with Brighton after at one time seeming set to move to United States.

Brighton manager Micky Adams told the club's official website, "After the last couple of weeks we feel Chris has earned an opportunity to show us he deserves a longer-term contract.

"Once he's fully fit we're sure he'll be a real asset to the squad."
