Tottenham Hotspur could launch SHOCK Anfield raid
12:30 PM 19 January, 2009
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are being linked with a move for Daniel Agger.

The future of the Danish international at Anfield has been of some speculation all season, since he lost his place in the Liverpool side to Slovakian ace Martin Skrtel.

AC Milan and Real Madrid have been heavily linked with £12million bids for the former Brondby player, but Harry Redknapp may offer him the chance to remain in England.

Agger will be out of contract at the end of next season and talks over a new deal have so far been fruitless, increasing speculation he could be leaving Merseyside in the summer.

Despite the reported interest from White Hart Lane, the player is likely to be more tempted with a move to Italy or Spain and a team in the UEFA Champions League.

Meanwhile, an injury to Ledley King has heightened Redknapp’s need to sign a new defender, as he revealed after the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on Sunday afternoon.

“You saw today we picked up a few injuries. Ledley is going to be out for the long term so we need to strengthen the squad," Redknapp told Sky Sports 1.

Agger would be solid buy, but I thought the deal with AC Milan was done-and-dusted? Why take Keane back, he wanted to leave and because it hasn't panned out for him doesn't warrant the interest. He may have "given his all" (so you say), but we forget the bad moments we he had a strop when he was substituted or not playing well. Besides having Defoe and Keane together is just like having Defoe and Bent playing together. They both need someone to play off. Berbatov was perfect for Keane and it showed. I'm hoping Pavlyuchenko can be that for Defoe. He has good feet and has shown decent vision with his passing. Berbatov held the ball up tremendously, his shield was top notch. If Pavlyuchenko can come close to that then we'll do just fine. However this thread is about Agger... If we can get him then I say go for it. It is highly unlikely that anyone close to Ledley King's quality will be available. If we did end up going after someone who is equal to Dawson then I say forget it, that would be a waste of money. It has to be equal to King or better than Dawson. Agger is better than Dawson. The other thing is that we need a goalkeeper now as it is obvious that 'Arry doesn't trust either of the two available. We glaringly need help at left-back as Bale is not adequate cover for Assou-Ekotto, saying that is just sad. Couldn't we loan Nicky Shorey from Villa, he's obviously on his way out as he has fallen out of favour with O' Neil. He'd help out until the summer. The midfield has the quality needed, they now need to play upto the standard we believe they should.

Yeh id love to have Keane back at Tottenham However, who says if we did get him back that he wouldnt then turn his back on us AGAIN!!! He said he would never leave Spurs and then the next week he's jogged on to join dickface Rafa at Anfield!! Agger wouldnt come to us why would he? AC Milan = big chance of Champions League football next season? Tottenham = May win Uefa Cup but in a relegation scrap and a possibility of playing in the Championship I know where I'd go

We do need a goalkeeper, it shocks me how Gomez played when he couldn't take goalkicks, We need a left back our midfield is shocking i'd replace the lot if it was that simple bring players in that have got a bit of bite about them & a target man so Defoe can play off him.

harry needs keeper(cover), defender, midfielder, and a striker.Yes keane most likely would be welcome back. But i don't think its going to happen. You need players who want to be at the club and who will give their all to try and win things. We would be an after thought as its not happened for him at liverpool really .Its time to move on .
