Wigan Athletic Football Club have rejected an offer for Luis Antonio Valencia.

The winger has been heavily linked with a transfer this month, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all interested in the £15million-rated ace.

However, after losing Wilson Palacios to White Hart Lane for £14million the Latics are reluctant to lose another of their stars, as Real Madrid have found out in their pursuit of Valencia.

"Wigan rejected the option of a loan and that is the last word on the subject," said a Real source. “It is better for us to now close the mark following other arrivals."
