Newcastle United linked with David James swoop
07:49 PM 25 January, 2009
Newcastle United Football Club have been linked with a move for David James.

With Shay Given expected to quit St James Park for Manchester City this month, the Magpies would be eager to find a top-notch replacement before deadline day.

The Daily Star Sunday claim Joe Kinnear could well move for Portsmouth’s number one James, who remains one of the best shot-stoppers in the top-flight despite his 38 years.

However, the England international is in no hurry to quit Fratton Park: he is settled in the area and is Fabio Capello’s number once choice, so a move to the troubled Magpies is unlikely.

Jim , Firstly you are assuming that Englands No1 would be daft enough to sign for Newcastle , of course he would not , settled on the South Coast , why swop that for the wastelands of Newcasle ?

Dim wit i think he would rather play in front of 50,000 fans every week than play in front of 15,000 in a tin shed LISTENING TO THEM ANNOYING BELLS RINGING.

Steve Harper should now become No.1 goalkeeper. We don't need James at 3million pounds. The money should be spent elsewhere
