Liverpool star reveals Nemanja Vidic regret
10:00 AM 26 January, 2009
Jamie Carragher rues the fact Liverpool Football Club missed out on Nemanja Vidic.

The Reds met the release clause of the then-Spartak Moscow defender, but Manchester United came along and topped their offer to take the Serbian to Old Trafford.

Since then Vidic has established himself as one the great Premier League defenders of recent years, and Carragher rues missing out on the 27-year-old.

“United have got that edge on us financially,” he told The Times.

“Vidic is a classic case. He had a buyout clause of four or five million. United came along and paid seven or eight. But we can’t make excuses given the money we’ve spent.”

Nemanja Vidic has no regrets about turning down a transfer to Liverpool. The 24-year-old defender snubbed a move to Anfield in favour of signing for Manchester United, and speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the former Spartak Moscow man has no regrets. “I did receive some offers from other clubs, including Liverpool,” said Vidic. "But as soon as I heard United were interested, I wanted to sign immediately and I have no doubts I made the right decision. "They have a huge number of great supporters and the club represents something absolutely fantastic for me. I really hope my time in Manchester will be one of the best periods of my life." stop talking about man U fiancial superiority. as if it was the only reason for their success over the last 2 decades...man U rules football right now.. so shut the fxxx up

Chelski will NEVER be more than just a passing phase....LFC is a national institution. We have the BEST manager in the world now, and are builing a world class team to return us to the dizzy heights of our glory years. Give Raffa full support before we lose him, get rid of Parry and those yanks, have we not learned anything??? Our failiure to compete for almost 2 decades has largly stemmed from failings to compete in the transfer market, thats down to the BOARD!!!! Time to start acting like the team that we are, on and off the pitch!!
