Gordon Strachan has attempted to play down talk of a move for Willo Flood.

With Celtic due to face Dundee United in the CIS Cup this week, the Bhoys boss is perhaps wary of accusations that the midfielder could be unsettled by this week's transfer talk.

"There are just rumours and bits and bobs," he said after Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was quoted as saying Strachan had spoken to the Bluebirds about a deal for the player, who is on loan at Tannadice.

"Dundee United are a club that I admire and respect and they have good players, a lot of good players."
