FEEDBACK: Georgina Petty has some advice for the Newcastle United Football Club fans who have decided Alan Smith is not good enough for their cause.

The former Manchester United star is currently sidelined with an injury, and whilst many Magpies fans don’t seem to be particularly bothered, Fans FC reader and Leeds United fan Georgina writes:

“Yes I know what you Newcastle fans are probably thinking ‘good riddance to Smudger's latest injury blow, but when the going gets tough you need a strong character in the dressing room.

“Smudger is very much a victim of his unwavering enthusiasm to play anywhere for the team, even though he was privately hoping Newcastle would give him a shot upfront.

“By the time they did, Sam Allardyce had played him just about everywhere bar between the sticks and left him like a rabbit in headlights, either hacking into players in frustration or running around like a headless chicken that had forgotten how to enjoy a game.

“Of course, there was yet more turmoil around the corner as he struggled for confidence and Mike Ashley lost patience and dangled him over the noses of Everton until Kevin Keegan turned his heels, the deal went flat and now this!

“So you may snigger and slag him off and fire off a few grumpy replies to this and go on about how much money he's ‘wasted’ for Newcastle in wages and transfer fees, but he's one of the rare people in football that will be genuinely gutted to be out.”
