Kevin Nolan insists Newcastle United Football Club won’t be relegated this season.

The 26-year-old has ended his 12 year stint at Bolton Wanderers by penning a four-and-a-half year deal with the Magpies, who have paid just £4million for his services.

United are currently in a relegation dog-fight in the tightest race to beat the drop since the inception of the Premier League, but this is something he is unlikely to lose sleep over.

"That's something I haven't even thought about, really,” said Nolan. "I know there is that old saying, 'We are too good to go down', but we have got the strength of character.

"We have got a few lads injured at the moment. But they will be back come the crunch at the end of the season, so it is about us now trying to cement places in the team so we don't get pushed out by those lads when they come back."
